OnePlus to launch new Bullets Wireless headphones alongside OnePlus 6T

CNET claimed OnePlus had told it the new Android device will come with a fingerprint sensor under its display.

The Chinese company first meant to implement the fingerprint-on-display, or FOD, feature into the OnePlus 5T but decided against it as the technology hadn't been fine-tuned to deliver a fast and seamless user experience at that time.

"By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them", the company said.

So, OnePlus' confirmation puts paid to that particular piece of speculation once and for all.

The OnePlus tweet, which gives a teaser video indicating the in-display fingerprint sensor, was posted with the statement "Incoming: Top Secret Message". OnePlus brands its fingerprint-on-display (or FOD) feature as Screen Unlock, and it streamlines the phone's design and saves users the extra step of picking up their phones to unlock their screens.

The OnePlus 6T will have an in-display fingerprint reader. As it turns out, the OnePlus 6T will indeed use fingerprint on display, which is a relatively young technology that's pretty exciting from a functionality standpoint.

That is why the OnePlus 6T will be 0.45millimetres thicker than the OnePlus 6, the Chinese firm continued. Your fingerprint is then read by an optical image sensor and an AI processor. OnePlus usually base their designs on OPPO chassis and the 6T looks set to be no different, being based on the in-display packing OPPO R17 Pro.

Will the OnePlus 6T bring a minor upgrade over the OnePlus 6, or will it be something truly worth spending your money over? There will be a notch, rumors indicate, although it won't be almost as pronounced as the ones we've seen on competing devices like the iPhone X. An announcement is expected sometime next month meaning the device should go on sale in time for the holidays, perhaps around November 20.
