Self-proclaimed "funky white sister" Mary Halsey went on "Ellen" Thursday to perform her viral rendition of "Work It", which gained steam online in August after Elliot tweeted Halsey's hilarious performance. "The song had come out in 2002 and it was really popular", she told Ellen DeGeneres. On The Ellen Show this week, Ellen DeGeneres brought together Halsey and the iconic rapper for a surprise meeting. Halsey seems to have the wind knocked out of her for a few seconds before performing a duet with Elliott.

Mary explained to Ellen she's been singing "Work It" at karaoke sessions for the past 15 years, saying, "I learned and I read the words and I studied it, and the reaction that I got was so positive that it became my go-to song".

Halsey hit the stage for her signature performance only to be surprised by Elliott, who walked out to join her.

Sitting down for a chat, an overwhelmed Mary admitted: 'I can hardly just sit here, you've blown me away.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard of Missy Elliott's "funky white sister" by now.

'Ellen has always used her platform to make others dreams come true like Mary Halsey, who I must say is one of the sweetest souls I've met!' When I listen and she know all the words but the sound effects, she made the elephant noise and all of that...

Elliott also surprised Halsey with a jacket that said "funky white sister". This might just be the most pure video on the internet.
