I don't know. I have to speak to him.

Despite Chelsea's fine start to the new season, Winterburn can not envisage Sarri's side challenging for the Premier League title this season.

"The last time I have spoken with him, he told me that he wants to play for another season", Sarri said.

John Terry is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa at the end of the last season, following the club's falure to secure promotion to the Premier League.

"It's very hard. The gap last season was 30 points so I think to go above 30 points in one season is very, very hard".

Speaking at a news conference on Friday afternoon, head coach Sarri said Terry previously told him he would like to continue playing for another season.

Surmising that the decision is Terry's alone tonight, Sarri highlighted his own awareness of what the Chelsea defender of nearly two decades means to the club, and how happy he would be to welcome him 'home'. Cesc Fabregas is returning to full fitness but won't be ready to play this weekend. At the moment he is able to be on the bench. Maybe it's better for him to have two days of training.

At the moment, I can answer Manchester City or Liverpool [are the contenders].

"If we want to take the points, we will need a very good performance tomorrow".

"We need another step, I think, to be the same level".

Interestingly, Jose Mourinho's tutored Manchester United have suffered two defeats in their first four matches, while Tottenham with three wins out of four suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Watford before the first worldwide break of the season.

"This was only because after the first season the players understood the difficulty of this kind of match".

"My feeling is that now we are not a very solid team in the defensive phase".

"I'm trying to stress this number to my players, just telling them this number, my experience in this situation".
