Including the wins over Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool are set to play six games this month across three competitions with the Champions League and League Cup starting soon.

Firmino almost set the tone after 45 seconds with a goal that was disallowed when Sadio Mane was ruled to be offside, and though Michel Vorm parried away an attempt by Mohamed Salah after 22 minutes, Liverpool struck first behind Wijnaldum.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs were again out of sorts following their 2-1 loss to Watford before the worldwide break, with substitute Erik Lamela's stoppage-time goal giving the scoreline a very flattering look for the hosts.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are about to enter a crucial test as they play a series of games which could tell us whether or not they are finally ready to make a serious challenge for the Premier League title.

Erik Lamela pounced in second-half injury time to cause a few nervous moments within a late Spurs fightback, but Liverpool dominated throughout and should have finished emphatic winners. We had 85 brilliant minutes, although unfortunately we didn't finish the game off.

Liverpool welcomed back Naby Keita for the Spurs game, after the midfield star sat out the win at Leicester before the worldwide break.

However, the goal seemed to have come too late in the match as Liverpool held on to win the match 2-1. "I'm not sure, but maybe we have an injury with Roberto".

"I don't know what he means with that, to be honest".

The 26-year-old Brazilian came off after 74 minutes after a clash with Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen.

"It was a free-kick for Tottenham, right?"

Up next for the Reds is the start of their new Champions League campaign, with last season's runners-up taking on Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday.

The Brazil forward was eventually forced off, holding a pad to his eye, and was sent to hospital for further checks which confirmed an abrasion but no threat of lasting damage.
