Harry Potter fans will instantly recognize this as the name of Lord Voldemort's snake, which the Dark wizard later uses as a Horcrux to preserve part of his soul in his efforts to gain immortality.

Nagini does have some measure of control over her transformation in the trailer; she may not know the scope of her condition or will experience physical consequences of transforming regularly.

Nagini's inclusion provides a strong link between the Fantastic Beasts saga the original Harry Potter series, where no real indication was ever given that Voldemort's favorite pet was ever anything other than an unusually large green snake.
