He fled to Taiwan when he learned US police were investigating an accusation he had sex with an underage girl.

EBC News in Taiwan reports Wilson attempted to lease a home in Taipei this week, but a real estate agent recognized him from news coverage and alerted authorities, leading to his arrest.

He was scheduled to arrive at his new address on Friday afternoon local time to pick up the keys but never showed up.

Police learned that Wilson was suspected to be in a hostel located on Guangzhou Street in the Wanhua District according to the Central News Agency.

The National Immigration Agency released a statement after Wilson's arrest stating that Wilson had entered Taiwan legally without a visa. The Taiwanese Immigration Departement is now working with the American Institute in Taiwan to secure the necessary documents to deport him back to the United States.

Austin Police Department announced Wednesday that the 30-year-old is wanted for sexual assault, saying he was in Taiwan and missed a flight back to the United States. It is not known if the trip was planned prior to the investigation or why Wilson traveled to Taiwan.

It is not clear why he went to Thailand specifically, Officer said.

Cody Wilson advocates 3D-printed weapons as a bulwark against gun control and has caused panic by publishing firearm blueprints online. Police allege in an affidavit filed September 19, that Wilson had sex with an underage girl and paid her $500 afterward. After a federal court barred Wilson from posting the printable gun blueprints online for free last month, he announced he had begun selling them for any amount of money to USA customers through his website.

Austin police said Wilson met the girl on a website called SugarDaddyMeet.com and arranged to meet her at a hotel on August 15.

According to the affidavit, the teen said that she and "Sanjuro" texted each other inappropriate pictures.

He said the agency was in touch with Wilson's lawyer.

In a court filing this week, Wilson was accused of having sex with the girl at an Austin hotel last month. Once the victim and Wilson left the hotel he drove her to a fast-food restaurant and she walked to a parked vehicle.

Police said they reviewed hotel surveillance footage "showing the victim and Wilson exiting an elevator onto the seventh floor".

The license plate on the auto that "Sanjuro" drove matched one that was registered to Defense Distributed as well, according to KVUE.
