Alessio Romagnoli claims Milan "have other players just as good as Leonardo Bonucci" and that Gonzalo Higuain is "one of the best strikers in the world".

Maurizio Sarri was hoping to bring Higuain to Chelsea which could have sealed the departures of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

The 30-year-old has now revealed that Sarri was the only person at the Blues that showed a lot of interest.

"I have big respect for Sarri but he was the only one who wanted me at Chelsea", Higuain said.

"I feel a deep joy, to stay at AC Milan makes me proud".

"When I speak with players I find that because of the history Milan has, it's hard for the players to say no I don't want to come here".

"I always say that I love Milan and my family is very happy. It gives you goosebumps, it's special stuff".

Gonzalo Higuain has been given AC Milan's number nine shirt, which has proved something of a jinx for its wearers over the past few seasons.

Higuain will start his 6 season in Serie A, having played for Napoli and Juventus.

"It makes me proud. All I have to do is to show that the club was right to invest in me".

The 30-year-old, who scored 40 league goals in two seasons at Juve, is gunning for what would be a first taste of European success following the club's readmission to the Europa League.

"Mattia is an interesting young player".

And on Caldara's move to the San Siro, Leonardo told a press conference (via Football Italia): "Bonucci is for now, Mattia is for the future and now". Everyone wanted me here.

"I've played with (Ronaldo) before, but I have no regrets", Higuain said.

"This is a team that, in my opinion, can achieve great things".

"Then, I am sure they will help us to have an important season".
