'We can get even better', Guardiola warns City's rivals

Manchester City were irresistible at times during the course of their 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield on Sunday and there is the frightening prospect that they could strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

It may be the start of a new season but Aguero remains as lethal in front of goal as ever, becoming the first Manchester City player in history to pass the 200 goal barrier with his double against Chelsea.

The big-name players who are available though, are Leroy Sane, Benjamin Mendy, Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva, Claudio Bravo and record signing Riyad Mahrez, all of whom should feature against Chelsea.

Some of their lethargy going forward could be put down to the heat, which made it hard for both sides to sustain any sort of tempo. It was like City had picked up from exactly where they left off last season, despite missing the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva and Raheem Sterling.

But they produced a controlled and efficient performance to secure their third piece of silverware in the past six months.

Amassing more points, wins and goals than any other Premier League team set sky-high standards at Eastlands.

Hazard is back in training at Cobham but it will take time for him to adapt to the system.

As the game went on, Foden looked a lot more comfortable on the ball and started to dictate the tempo.

Community Shield: Sarri's Chelsea value to beat ill-prepared City

"We have seven days to train this week, and hopefully we can increase that level".

Manchester City's Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero shoots at goal during the UEFA Champions League Group E football match between Manchester City and CSKA Moscow. Guardiola's plan to put consistent pressure on the 26-year-old seemed to work, as the Blues seemed to miss the services of World Cup victor, N'Golo Kante.

As it stands, Danny Drinkwater is above him in Sarri's pecking order, so he could be one of several faces to be shipped out.

With big names looking certain to leave, this is an opportunity for a few players to impress the new Chelsea boss against a City side with one eye on a very tricky opening Premier League tie at Arsenal next week.

"My method has always been to speak with players face-to-face and then we will see what the best solution if for them and Chelsea".

Winning over Guardiola was arguably Aguero's greatest achievement however as the Spaniard had doubts about his ability to fit into a style of play that demands mobile forwards. With him scoring goals City look formidable as they embark on their title defence. I do not know (if we are close).

Chelsea have lost their last four appearances in the Community Shield and City have lost two of their three most recently played.

Antonio Rudiger grew into his role at Stamford Bridge last season following his move from Roma, where he quickly made Chelsea a tougher proposition in the defensive third.
