After an FBI investigation found in September that several Division I college basketball coaches were implicated in recruiting bribery, the NCAA wanted to change up some rules to safeguard themselves from ever having to clean up this mess again.

The agents, who must be certified by the NCAA, can assist players in making informed decisions about turning pro, but can only be hired at the conclusion of a season and have no financial ties to the players aside from small travel and meal expenses related to the draft.

One of the main changes includes giving players the opportunity to enter the NBA Draft and return to school if they are undrafted, pending future action from the NBA and the NBPA. "Elite" players that go undrafted must notify their athletic director about returning to school by 5 p.m. Monday following the draft. "We're not in a position to try to say who gets an agent and who does not'". They can also attend events during the last two weekends in June but only if the event sare approved by the Nation Federation of State High School Associations, organized by groups affiliated with high schools, and occur at a middle school, high school or college. "It's just dumb. The market would be set". We will continue to work in all of these areas and continue to pursue collaboration with outside organizations, including the NBA, the National Basketball Players Association, apparel companies and USA Basketball.

Moreover, with the level that head Texas basketball coach Shaka Smart has recruited at in recent years, the Horns could see these rule changes impact more immensely talented commits to the program.

The rule changes are effective immediately. These changes will promote integrity in the game, strengthen accountability and prioritize the interests of student-athletes over every other factor. "They deserve nothing less".

"It's amateur hour. There's a difference between change and improving the situation". It's a bunch of people sitting in a room who have never dealt with the problems.
