Mina, Gomes deals confirmed as Everton complete Barca raid

Everton completed the signings of Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona and Brazilian free-agent winger Bernard on Thursday in a triple deadline-day swoop for the Premier League club.

Despite interest from Manchester United and Lyon in the 23-year-old, and a six-week pursuit by Everton, the defender was finally secured on a five-year deal for an initial €30.25m (£27.2m) plus €1.5m in add-ons.

Mina's was impressive during this summer's World Cup and scored a last minute equaliser against England in their last-16 tie, one of three goals he netted in Russian Federation.

'It is important that the club want to fight for something, ' Mina told evertontv.

Linked to the likes of Chelsea throughout the summer, Brazilian Bernard admitted a conversation with Marco Silva persuaded him to move to Everton.

New Everton defender Yerry Mina has revealed that he is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the Premier League. I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful.

"I chose Everton because of all the things I had heard about Marco Silva and after speaking to him I was happy with what he said to me", the midfielder said.

The 25-year-old joined Barcelona in a £42m deal in 2016, less than a fortnight after helping Portugal win the European Championship. Meanwhile Gomes moves on loan for the season for 2.25 million.

'The manager made me feel confident I wanted to play here because of what he's done in the past.
