Idris Elba poses as he arrives for the United Kingdom premiere of "100 Streets" at BFI Southbank in London November 8, 2016.

Idris Elba has responded to reports that a James Bond producer has tipped him to be 007, posting a cryptic tweet.

Unsurprisingly, this immediately had fans convinced that this was confirmation that Elba would be taking up the Bond mantle.

Fans were obviously freaking out, as this is the biggest tease yet that Elba might be stepping into the iconic role.

All eyes will now be on Elba, but what about the other likely candidates for the famous role? It was accompanied by a heavily filtered selfie, where Elba glared into the camera with a resolute expression.

"Idris has that", was the quote that The Daily Star claimed Fuqua made, and they also stated that Broccoli was responsive to the idea.

The latest slew of Elba-Bond rumors comes after a report in the United Kingdom tabloid The Daily Star, which quoted director Antoine Fuqua as saying that Elba was, yet again, in the running for the role.

A representative for Fuqua told THR, "He never had a conversation with Barbara about the franchise or about any casting". Fuqua allegedly said the move "will happen eventually" and Elba is reportedly the first choice to take on the role.

"Idris could do it if he was in shape".

"You need a guy with physically strong presence".

Daniel Craig is set to star in one more Bond film, which is due out next year. In 2014 he spoke to CNN about the possibility.

"It would be such an honor", he said. We have to wear handsome suits, drive nice cars, chase bad guys and date lovely women? In 2016, he told Good Morning America: "I think I'm too old for that".
