Alongside the first official smattering of bloody and hellish screenshots, Bethesda and id Software also revealed earlier today the first-ever look at the game's gameplay, as well as provided a myriad of details about the upcoming sequel. What we do know is that one, it'll be out for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch; and two, there will most definitely blood.

Speaking to Polygon at QuakeCon 2018, game director Marty Stratton confirmed that post-launch, there will be singleplayer DLC for Doom Eternal.

"The DOOM Slayer returns".

Doom tethered the demonic alien hordes to the Martian hellscape and kept them well away from our home planet, but that all changes with Doom Eternal.

Well, at the QuakeCon 2018 Keynote, Bethesda and id Software properly unleashed hell, showing off a gore-soaked 15 minutes of Doom Eternal footage. Don't worry though - if you have enough trouble with Doom's AI demons, you can turn off invasions. With updated armor and an arsenal of new and improved equipment, including a shoulder-mounted cannon with flamethrower, extendable blade, and a new dash ability, you're faster and deadlier than ever.

The game will feature an all new soundtrack by local composer Mick Gordon, who created the soundtrack for the first game, so fans will be happy and when you combine new music with new weapons and more, things will become quite interesting.

I don't need to go into more detail as I want you all to see the footage for yourselves. People playing as demons will even be able to team up to take down the DOOM Slayer, which is a pretty interesting twist on what has traditionally been a single player franchise.

As for the demons, classic characters like the Arch Vile, Arachnotron and Pain Elemental have returned, having been left out of DOOM 2016. Sounds like an interesting new take on multiplayer.

The studio revealed that an all-new invasion mode is coming to Doom Eternal, which allows players to invade other campaigns as demons in a somewhat similar fashion to Dark Souls.
