His second, though, put on display some of the qualities the Browns - 20-10 winners over the Giants on Thursday - fell for in drafting the former Oklahoma star first overall in April's draft.

According to ESPN, New Jersey took in more than $16.4 million in sports betting in June - it's first full month since the United States Supreme Court struck down the federal ban on sports betting earlier this year. He showed the right mix of decisiveness and deliberation with his delivery.

On his first touch Thursday night - in his first-ever preseason game and on the first play - Barkley appeared to be stopped at the line of scrimmage, before juking several Cleveland defenders out of their shoes, finding an opening and running for a 39-yard gain. He finished his debut with a completion on a 54-yard, slant-and-run score to fellow rookie Antonio Callaway.

While that was all well and good, Mayfield's showcase came after Taylor completed all of his pass attempts (5 for 5, 99 yards) in posting a ideal passer rating (158.3) and had the more impressive TD connection with Njoku.

The Browns let Mayfield play into the fourth quarter after he entered in the second.

Taylor, expected to be coach Jackson's starter as Mayfield learns this season, hit all five of his passes in two series, including a 36-yard touchdown pass to Njoku, a New Jersey native.

He had three catches for 87 yards, including a diving 24-yarder that the Browns successfully challenged after it was ruled incomplete on the field. That's a good problem they should enjoy, for a change - and they should continue to avoid creating an unnecessary problem.
