American Airlines finds apparent fetus in plane bathroom

The plane was parked inside a hangar at the airport when crews made the discovery.

The body of a deceased infant was found aboard a commercial airplane on early Tuesday morning at LaGuardia Airport, New York Post reports.

A dead fetus was found on a plane from Charlotte Tuesday morning.

Sources say the fetus, believed to be 5 months along, was found in a bathroom aboard American Airlines flight 1942 around 6 a.m. Tuesday. It was the Airbus A321's only flight of the day.

"As we continue to learn more about this tragic and sensitive situation, we are actively cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation".

The City Medical Examiner is working on determining how the fetus died.

Details will not be released until after the investigation is complete, the statement said.

The cleaning crew immediately contacted their manager, who in turn contacted law enforcement, Franco said.

LGA Airport officials tweeted that travelers may experience a delay due to an "out of service aircraft".

They instead turned all questions over to the Queens District Attorney's Office which is yet to make a statement.
