In all, the cases of almost 3,000 children who were separated from their parents by the Trump administration's cruel family separation practice are now being reviewed by the government.

Tester planned to spend Thursday listening to farmers' and business owners' concerns about Trump's import tariffs, spokeswoman Marnee Banks said.

"You deserve a senator who doesn't just talk like he's from Montana, you deserve a senator who actually votes like he's from Montana", Trump said, endorsing the Republican candidate for the Senate seat, state Auditor Matt Rosendale.

Trump also took swipes at the Democratic Party on immigration last night, claiming the party's new platform is to "abolish ICE", the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

He also mentioned he would be meeting with President Vladimir Putin soon, and that getting along with China and Russian Federation is "a good thing".

Montana is the latest stop on Trumps midterm campaign tour, created to boost Republicans and advocate for his first 18 months in office.

The president says, "I've been preparing for this stuff my whole life".

Trump also scoffed at journalists for questioning his readiness to meet with Putin, a former spy, in Finland on July 16.

Trump seemingly ignored the outreach, telling supporters that he would rather have people who speak ill of him and vote with him than those who speak highly of him and vote against him.

In a freaky and troubling moment of President Donald Trump's speech at a campaign rally in Montana on Thursday, he took a swipe at Sen. Jon Tester is vulnerable and has earned the ire of the Trump White House for his character assassination of Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson. As the ranking Democrat on the Senate's Veterans Affairs committee, Tester aired a long list of complaints others had leveled against Jackson, including charges that he improperly dispensed prescription pain medication and once wrecked a government vehicle while driving drunk. Jon Tester this fall, telling voters in a state he carried by 20 points that Mr. Tester "doesn't share your values".

Rosendale stood on stage with Trump and told the crowd that the president was helping Montana industries like timber and coal.

President Trump has praised Vladimir Putin during a free wheeling rally in Montana at which he vowed to make North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies pay more for defence, made a series of personal attacks against U.S. opponents and appeared to mock the #MeToo women's movement. Jackson was nominated to be the next Veterans Affairs secretary, but Tester made a decision to push a false narrative that Jackson had driven drunk, crashed a government vehicle, and was more or less a pill pusher. He went public with multiple allegations of misconduct against Jackson.

Hegle said he voted for Tester in past elections but was undecided this time.

But before Trump arrived in Montana, Tester's campaign took out full-page ads in newspapers across the state, highlighting bills the senator sponsored that Trump has signed into law. Mr. Trump accepted his resignation in a tweet and said that Pruitt's EPA deputy Andrew Wheeler will take over his position starting Monday. "Tester to remain in the Senate and thwart my father's agenda", the younger Trump declared, asserting: "when he's voting in Washington, D.C., he's nothing more than Chuck Schumer's liberal lapdog".
