Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere it's second season next year, but fans got a sneak peek today at San Diego Comic-Com at what's to come when the series returns. There's also a tease that Mr. Spock could be appearing later in the season as well. Since the Season 1 finale, Marvel's Inhumans actor Anson Mount will be playing Pike, who will play an important role during Season 2. We didn't realize how this couple was going to resonate with audience, and they bonded so so quickly. The creative added that he and the rest of the Star Trek: Discovery crew know they "owe" fans "lot of answers about how this show connects to canon this season", and that viewers will get what they're after, just not in the way that they expect. Each short will be an opportunity for deeper storytelling and exploration of key characters and themes which fit into Star Trek: Discovery and the expanding Star Trek universe.

Following the trailer unveiling, Star Trek: Discovery executive producer, co-creator, and now new showrunner Alex Kurtzman confirmed that the second season of the series will introduce everyone's favorite half-Vulcan, half-human dude, Spock. Rebecca Romijn will also appear as Captain Pike's Number One, a role originally played by Majel Barrett Roddenberry.

The long-awaited first look at Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 has finally entered our orbit. Additional episodes include a deep dive into Saru's (Doug Jones) backstory as the first Kelpien to join Starfleet, and Tilly's (Mary Wiseman) journey aboard the U.S.S. Discovery.
