Between Reddit and the video posted on YouTube, she's been getting congratulations from far and wide. "It just went from there".

National media outlets and social media users have since given her story widespread attention.

"There's been a lot of positive responses to this, but then there's also been the few that are like, 'those shorts are small, ' " Holden told WTOC-TV . "That shouldn't matter. It's upsetting to see people that have that train of thought, but it's really reassuring to see how positive everyone else has responded to it".

Emelia hopes it will empower other women.

She explained that the touch had been so intimate that she had initially thought it was a friend, unable to believe that a stranger would touch someone so intrusively.

"You have every right to wear what you want and you most certainly have every right to defend yourself", she concluded. "No means no. You have to have consent".

The video shows a man brushing by a waitress and grabbing her behind. I just reacted. I don't know how I reacted the way I did.

"I just did it". The commenter felt Holden's actions were more deserving of assault. "I'm not glad that it happened, but I'm glad that it's had such a positive outcome", she said. "You're going to face the consequences'".

So what did she say?

Jennifer Cassetta, a self-defense expert and creator of Stilettos and Self-Defense, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that this reaction wouldn't work for everyone, although it clearly did for Holden in this situation.

A man groped a waitress as he walked past her in a restaurant, so she threw him to the floor. Don't put your hands on me. "I don't care who you are".

Ryan Cherwinski, 31, was charged with sexual battery, according to the news report.

To make matters worse, once police arrived at the scene Cherwinski maintained he was simply moving Holden out of the way and that he barely touched her.

Holden had one final message for Cherwinski.

"I appreciate all of the kind words from everyone but I'd also appreciate it if people would stop tagging me in the video", Holden wrote on her Facebook page. "Best wishes to your daughters".
