Prince George celebrates his 5th birthday in adorable new photo

To mark Prince George's birthday on Sunday, his doting parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - as with tradition - released a gorgeous portrait of their eldest son to mark his fifth year on the eve of his big day.

The Royal Mint The Royal Mint debuted its commemorative gift to Prince George earlier this month.

Meaning that George - who turns five today - has no idea that he will one day become king.

His full name is His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge.

But George is the star of the royal show this week, as third in line to the throne behind his father, Prince William, and his grandfather, Prince Charles the Prince of Wales.

Plus, he's undeniably cute and sometimes adorably naughty, as his public appearances attest to.

The adorable image of George holding Princess Charlotte on his lap is definitely a must-watch.

Prince William has said many times, his family is quite "normal" behind closed doors.

George behaved with aplomb at his first official meet-and-greet, when he stayed up past bedtime to shake hands with visiting President Barack Obama at Kensington Palace on April 22, 2016.

The little prince was very interested in the tail rotor.

George has two younger siblings.

Prince William was an RAF search and rescue pilot.

Prince George was born on 22nd July 2013 in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
