The PGA Tour announced its 2018-2019 schedule on Tuesday, the first with A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier removed from its Fourth of July slot.

The final World Golf Championships event of the season, until now staged in Akron, Ohio, will be held from July 22-28 at TPC Southwind in Memphis as the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational, replacing FedEx St. Jude Classic.

This year will be the last year of the 3M Championship as a PGA Tour Champions event beginning July 30.

The US PGA Championship has been moved from August to May as part of a revamp which will see the PGA Tour season end before the start of the National Football League campaign.

The strongest competition might be found outside the ropes as tournaments try to persuade the most appealing players not to take time off during their events.

Ending the PGA Tour season before the start of NFL and college football has always been discussed as imperative to the health of those events. The Dell Technologies Open in Boston will be the odd tournament out.

Cavner had Toby Keith perform at a PGA Tour event he runs in Tampa in March, and said more than 20,000 people attended the show.

The PGA Tour made sweeping changes to its 46-tournament schedule for 2018-19.

The PGA play-offs will now start from Aug 8-11 with the Northern Trust, which will be played near NY in 2019 and Boston in 2020 as the cities exchange host rights each year, rather than each hosting a play-off event as they will this year. He gained eligibility for the 2015 Tour and recorded a 3-shot victory in the 2017 El Bosque Mexico Championship, a springboard to finishing 19th on the regular-season money list to gain his 2017-18 PGA TOUR card.

"We are extremely pleased with the way the schedule has come together, particularly with the number of changes that were involved and the strength of the partnerships required to achieve this new look", said PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.

As expected, the "Rocket Mortgage Classic" will be played at the Detroit Golf Club on June 24 through June 30, 2019. Keeneland also will play host to the Concours d'Elegance vehicle show on Saturday, July 21, so spectators are encouraged to purchase parking passes in advance to secure a spot at the track.

The season also features venue rotations for several tournaments, including the first two FedExCup Playoffs events. It is going to be very interesting with the schedule becoming more compact as well.
