A missing OR woman has been found alive after somehow surviving driving her jeep off a cliff in Northern California's scenic Big Sur.

A missing OR woman was safely rescued after her white Jeep was spotted over the side of a cliff off Highway 1, north of Nacimiento-Fergusson Road, on Friday evening.

Two people walking in the area found her vehicle partially submerged and dialed 911, the sheriff's office said. She was transported to a hospital with a shoulder injury.

After surveillance video from a business showed Hernandez traveling south on Highway 1 into Monterey County, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office took over the search on Thursday.

"Angela was found about 200 feet down a cliff".

Alone on the desolate shore for seven days, she survived by using her radiator hose to siphon water from a nearby stream, according to KGO-TV.

Hernandez told authorities she'd been stranded at the edge of the Pacific along central California's rugged coast since July 6. It's not going to be an easy recovery. She was driving from Portland to the Southern California city of Lancaster to visit family, who said it wasn't like her to suddenly stop texting and calling. "That's weird. And then came around another bend and saw the auto", said Chelsea.

Sheriffs said she had told her sister she would stay overnight in a auto park before continuing her journey the next morning, but they had not heard from her after 6 July.

Hernandez had been declared missing when she appeared to vanish after CCTV footage captured her at a Carmel gas station on July 6, around 80km (50 miles) north of Highway 1 where she was found.

The family had set up a GoFundMe page to pay for some of the search efforts, including helping them with hotel stays and petrol.

"My sister is alive, she's talking, and she's still trying to come to understand everything", wrote Angela's sister Isabel Hernandez on Facebook.
