Kevin Durant, Golden State Warriors agree to short-term deal

Durant first visited Manila in 2011 to participate in exhibition games against a PBA selection and Gilas Pilipinas. If the Thunder retain him, they will have made hardly any improvements- adding center Nerlens Noel does not immediately qualify- to a team that was never a real threat to the Warriors this past season.

We are looking at the top players on the market before 2018 free agency begins.

The deal reportedly is worth $148 million and does not include a player option for the fifth year, as many similar deals do.

But Durant's one-year pay cut benefits the Warriors as well, though, because it could save them as much as $30 million in luxury tax payments in 2018-19. He holds an option, worth $31.5 million, for the second year, the report says. What Myers likely hoped that would mean was Durant signing a max contract and staying with the Warriors long-term.

The Warriors nearly used this very strategy last season, but opted to sign JaVale McGee to the last available roster spot - signing him to the veteran's minimum, but paying more than three times his contract's worth, already in the repeater luxury tax.

Zach Lowe from ESPN reports the interest is mutual, though he believes Crawford will want more than the potential veteran minimum most are expecting the Warriors to offer him.

"Sometimes you don't negotiate. Kevin Durant, look what he did for us a year ago, he did us a great service", Myers said. I just want him to sign a deal.

I guess we should be happy for the Thunder? He's earned that, to kind of lay out the terms. Jordan was going to go to Dallas the last time he was a free agent, but DeAndre Jordan backed out. The former NBA Most Valuable Player will have the opportunity to sign elsewhere, but he is not expected to leave Golden State at least for next season.

This is the third time in eight years James has changed teams.

Doug McDermott (restricted): Mr. McBuckets has turned into a very good role player, staying excellent from three-point range while improving other parts of his game.

It is a win for the two-time defending National Basketball Association champion Warriors on several levels.

Durant is coming off his second best season percentage wise from beyond the arc of his career and has had his two best seasons in terms of field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage the last two years as well.

Durant, 29, averaged 26.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 68 regular-season games in 2017-18, missing time due to a rib cartilage fracture.
