Hours ahead of Prince Louis' christening on July 9, Kensington Palace revealed the names of the baby boy's godparents. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, wore an army green Ralph Lauren dress and hat by Stephen Jones.

Prince Louis, the third child of Britain's Prince William and wife Kate, has been christened at a small, private ceremony overseen by close family but without his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

The three-year-old was seen confidently shaking hands with the Archbishop of Canterbury and The Dean of The Chapel Royal, The Right Reverend and Right Honourable the Lord Chartres before heading inside for the ceremony.

Louis will wear the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, which in 2008 replaced the original which had been worn for all royal christenings since that of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter in 1841.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge started their own tradition when it came to christening their children, making the "personal decision" to have their first child, Prince George, baptised at the intimate Chapel Royal at St James's Palace.

From the duchess's side, Kate's parents Michael and Carole, brother James, pregnant sister Pippa and her husband James Matthews were there. Guy Pelly has been a longtime friend of the Kate and Will and Harry Aubrey-Fletcher went to Ludgrove School and Eton with Prince William.

Meghan was christened and confirmed in the oak-panelled Chapel Royal by the archbishop, who also married her and Harry in May.
