Fan favorite Morgan (Lennie James) has now officially crossed over, and that's not the end of the cast shakeups that this show is going through.

The London-born actor plays former police officer Rick Grimes, the show's lead character. It means everything to me.

The Walking Dead season 9 panel at SDCC 2018 kicked off with the bittersweet moment from Andrew Lincoln. I love the people who make this show. I'm also particularly fond of the people who watch the show. "This has been the most extraordinary, fantastic and useful experience of my career".

Morton was most recently seen on the big screen as Mary Lou in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and also plays the role of Margaret Wells in Harlots, now in its second season on Hulu.

Season 9 picks up after the conclusion of the all-out war the survivors waged against Negan and his Saviors, focusing on Andrew Lincoln's character, Rick Grimes, picking up the pieces and putting together the utopian society for a post-apocalyptic world.

He said he would "take a break for a while", adding that, while the cast of The Walking Dead is his "surrogate family", he also has a "real family and it's time for me to go home".

The almost six-minute video begins with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) speaking to his archnemesis Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) from inside a holding cell. What a thing. I'm really, really excited about this season.

The Walking Dead season 9: What can you expect from the new series?

"That's stuff that I obviously don't want to spoil for fans, but I think what I can tell you is that we've got a great story for Rick", series showrunner Angela Kang said of Lincoln's impending departure in an interview with Deadline. The hit series will return to AMC on October 7.
