Clooney described himself as being "banged up", CNN said.

George Clooney was taken to hospital for treatment after a motorcycle accident in Sardinia, Italian media has reported. Cicognani added that Clooney was "not seriously injured".

He was treated and released, hospital officials said.

Clooney is filming the "Catch-22" Hulu series (based on the Joseph Heller novel) on the Italian island ― and he was apparently on his way to the set.

Clooney, 57, had just left his hotel on a motor scooter when he crashed into a small truck, Italy's Chi magazine said on its website.

Police said they had no information, and the hospital did not respond to requests for comment.

Clooney has a home on Lake Como, which is on the Italian mainland. It's not clear whether he'll consider traveling on four wheels from now on, however, having previously suffered a broken rib in a motorbike accident in NY in 2007.
