George Clooney involved in motorbike accident in Italy, reports say

La Nuova Sardegna said the 57-year-old was headed to a film set on Tuesday when his motorbike was hit by a auto.

Private media firm Mediaset, citing gossip magazine Chi, said the accident occurred near Costa Corallina, in the province of Olbia.

"A vehicle did not respect the right of way and hit him", the tweet read.

Amal, 40, and George, along with their one-year-old twins, are now living in Sardinia for the summer, where he is filming his new TV series, Catch 22.

George Clooney "smashed in to a windscreen" when his scooter collided with a auto in Sardinia.

Italian newspaper La Nuova Sardegna tweeted a photo of the purported accident site. La Nuova also reports that George's wife, Amal Clooney, rushed to be by his side when she heard news of his hospitalization.

The US actor is directing, producing and starring in the six episode miniseries based on Joseph Heller's famous novel. Clooney fell off the scooter and slammed into the windshield of the Mercedes.

George and Amal met back in 2013 when Amal attended a party at the Ocean's Eleven star's house in Lake Como, Italy.
