Fortnite, developed by Epic Games, was released in late 2017 and makes money entirely from in-app purchases, where players spend real dollars to buy in-game currency in order to customize their avatars.

New details of what went wrong during "Fortnite's" Playground mode outage were released by Epic Games. Finally, the last challenge will award players with a happy birthday spray if they take the time to dance in front of 10 birthday cakes.

Each challenge you complete will unlock a slice of the birthday cosmetic set. SuperData says it has brought more players to console, particularly lapsed users, and has helped the genre become the most popular category among those who like to watch game streams. You can also earn tickets and use them to purchase Birthday Llamas, which have a chance of dropping heroes and weapons from every event that's occurred throughout the previous year. That's according to a new report by SuperData, which estimates that the game has generated more than $1 billion in revenue across all platforms. Most notably, the upcoming installment of "Call of Duty: Black Ops" will feature the franchise's first take on battle royale.
