Liverpool have reportedly made a bid in excess of £60 million for Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

Alisson, Courtois, Chelsea, Roma, Real Madrid and Liverpool find themselves as pawns in a puzzle which could produce a number of different outcomes.

However, according to fresh claims from the Mirror, Chelsea are willing to gazump Liverpool in their pursuit of Alisson and are prepared to spend a huge sum of £70 million on the Roma star.

The £62m bid is slightly short of Roma's £66.6m valuation but both sides are hopeful that an agreement can be reached.

Alisson was between the sticks for Brazil in the recent World Cup in Russian Federation where he played all five games, keeping three clean sheets.

Liverpool FC signed Brazil global Fabinho in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco at the start of the summer transfer window.

The Reds are desperate to add a reliable goalkeeper to their ranks after a disastrous end to the season for current No.1, Loris Karius.

But the 25-year-old showed more signs of being error-prone during the warm-up to a pre-season friendly against Chester earlier this month when he let a soft strike through his hands.

Chelsea, who could be set to lose Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid, with the Belgian 'stopper a target for the Champions League holders.
