Younger days: Donald Glover recently took on the younger version of the role in the latest franchise spin-off Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the long-gestating rumors that Billy Dee Williams will return to that galaxy far, far away and will reprise his role of Lando Calrissian for next year's Star Wars: Episode IX!

Williams first made his debut as the suave galactic gambler who went on to become an administrator of Cloud City in 1980's Empire Strikes Back.

Now, the big question remains as to whether Lando firmly with the forces of good or whether he's in line to be a First Order stooge. The 81-year-old actor, of course, will reprise his role as the smooth-talking, cape-wearing, not completely trustworthy original captain of the Millennium Falcon, Lando Calrissian. The outlet was able to confirm that the conflict was indeed to film the yet-untitled "Star Wars" film.

Aside from Williams, it was also revealed recently that Keri Russell was joining the cast too, alongside returnees such as Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac. Williams last portrayed him in "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" in 1983, aside from doing voice work for the character in various video game and animated projects.

Episode IX is set to be released on December 20, 2019 and features Abrams' return to the helm since passing over directing duties to Rian Johnson for 2017's The Last Jedi.
