San Antonio will host the Final Four for a fifth time in 2025, joining Kansas City, Indianapolis, New York, Louisville, New Orleans and Seattle as the only cities to do so.

San Antonio was one of seven cities vying for the marquee event in 2023-2026 cycle, including Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, North Texas and Phoenix. "We promise another fantastic effort from the Sun Devil community and will shine again in 2024".

"I could not be prouder that the NCAA has selected Phoenix to host another iconic Final Four", Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said in a statement released by ASU.

Well aware of that fact, the masterminds at the NCAA have announced that Houston will again host the NCAA Men's Final Four in 2023.

Nirenberg and the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee presented a formal proposal in Boston on Tuesday. This will be just the second Final Four to take place in the western part of the country since 1995.

Including the 2023 Super Bowl, which Arizona landed back in May, the 2024 Final Four will be the eighth mega-event (a saying that mainly encompasses the Super Bowl, college football national championship and Final Four) for Arizona since University of Phoenix Stadium opened in 2006. "We embraced the Final Four, and we wanted the opportunity again".

The group was comprised of officials with San Antonio Sports, the City of San Antonio, UTSA and for the first time, the University of the Incarnate Word. All those cities have hosted the event with overwhelming success in recent years, and yet all of them approached the bid process with an unassuming energy.

"It's a big day, huge day, we're beyond excited", said Debbie Johnson, Director of the Arizona Office of Tourism. Only Kansas City, which was the site of 10 Final Fours from 1940-88, has been the site of more.

The downtown footprint has improved even more in the last few years, something the NCAA Men's Basketball Committee noted during a final visit to Houston in mid-June to look at NRG as well as the downtown footprint.
