It is believed the body part belongs to a 47-year-old woman who was last seen walking her dogs on Friday morning at the Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park in Davie, Florida, Local 10 News reports. Another woman said that her poodle vanished near the lake on Christmas and she suspected the dog had been eaten. "This tragedy is heartbreaking for everyone involved, and our honest condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim at this time".

Trappers caught the gator Friday and found an arm inside its stomach, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

A woman who disappeared while walking her dogs is believed to have been bitten and killed by an alligator.

Maria Raeaoso, whose home sits on one of two lakes in the park, says her poodle disappeared previous year and she wonders if a gator is to blame.

One neighbor, who did not answer a reporter's knocks at their door Friday, told the group that Matsuki's husband had warned her against visiting Silver Lakes with the dogs alone because they had seen alligators there, Limia recalled.

She is reported to have been married with a son in his 20s who lives in NY. Now, hours later, park rangers have reportedly captured the animal, according to Sun Sentinel.

Earlier reports had said the witness saw the woman being dragged into the water.

Alligators are found in all 67 of Florida's counties, according to the FWC.

Despite putting up quite the resistance against the trapper and inexperienced officers, the 8-foot alligator was eventually blindfolded, bound and muzzled. From 1948 to 2017, 401 unprovoked bite incidents have occurred in Florida with 24 of these proving fatal. While there are signs warning visitors not to swim in the lake, one resident criticized the park supervisors for not including signs specifically about the alligators and snakes in the park. Dale Engle said no divers could search the water until the alligator was captured.

Edwin Gomez, an area resident, was horrified to hear an alligator may be behind a woman's disappearance at this Davie park.
