James Corden's most recent "Carpool Karaoke" guest was Sir Paul McCartney, who managed to reduce him to tears at one point during the sketch.

During the drive, Corden told McCartney: "Your music is so full of positivity and joy and a message of love and togetherness, I feel like it's more relevant now today maybe than it's ever been". So I woke up and was, 'What was that? "She gets up and she starts playing this song and it sounds familiar and I'm kind of a little bit out of it and I'm looking at my wife like "I know this song what is this song.'" As it turns out, Swift was playing Foo Fighters" "Best Of You".

"Oh man, it got me emotional there, Paul", Corden says as the song comes to an end. I've never heard that. The Beatles leader might have a stronger connection with Corden than any other late night host because they're both British, and Corden was moved so much by something McCartney said that he was overcome with emotion.

Corden said it was the "most attractive story" he had ever heard, before singing a teary rendition of the song. "If my grandad was here right now, he'd get an absolute kick out of this".

Corden was lucky enough to be invited onstage to join McCartney to bring down the house - which contained a few stunned, teary-eyed fans - with an all-voices-on-deck rendition of "Hey Jude". "And it keeps being relevant".

The segment started with Corden seated in his auto before making a phone call and channelling one of The Beatles' best-known hits.

While in the house, McCartney showed Corden where he and John Lennon would rehearse and write, and recounted the moment he and Lennon finished writing "She Loves You".

Setting up hidden cameras around the bar, Corden gave the regular pub-goers a surprise they'd never forget.
