Ten people killed as domestic flight crashes in Kenya

Officials on Wednesday said the search efforts were focusing on the mountain range in central Kenya where a mobile phone signal from the plane had been located.

"The search has been halted due in the Aberdares because of bad weather and will resume on Thursday at 6 a.m".

If any of the passengers had survived the crash they would likely have died from the freezing weather as they lay trapped inside the wreckage for nearly two days.

Crashes involving light aircraft are often reported in Kenya.

It lost contact with the control tower at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport a few minutes before landing.

Search for the missing FlySax plane is yet to start proper in the Aberdares, almost 20 hours after it was reported missing.

The plane belonging to FlySax and operated by East African Safari Air Express was destined for the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi from Kitale when it went missing.

It is believed they had flown into a bad storm.

- The plane was last seen on the JKIA radar at 17.20pm, the time it was supposed to land, according to Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCCA) and FlySax.

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Kenya Forestry Service (KFS), Red Cross and that National Disaster and Management Unit (NDMU) are conducting the search.

"Information from teams reaching the crash site is that there are no survivors", said Charles Wako, chairman of the domestic airline Fly-SAX.

Some of the relatives visited the hotel.
