SpaceX package will add "small rocket thrusters" to 2020 Tesla Roadster

Just what "full self driving" means to Musk remains in question.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its preliminary findings after investigating a Tesla Model X crash while the vehicle was in autopilot mode.

Tesla has denied the allegations and described them as an effort to make Chief Executive Elon Musk look bad.

Tesla's Autopilot is considered an SAE Level 2 system, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist technology.

He's tweeted that the latest Autopilot software rolling out is "fully fixed in August update as part of our long-awaited Tesla Version 9".

Another crash, in Utah, has been tentatively blamed on Autopilot, the owner receiving serious leg injuries when her vehicle slammed into a parked fire truck after she had switched the system on and taken her hands off the wheel.

Tesla owners will receive an automatic upgrade to their vehicles' self-driving software, the company's CEO Elon Musk has revealed in a tweet. During that time, the system provided two visual and one auditory alert for the driver to put his hands back on the steering wheel, the agency said.

"The software update is good news", said analyst Chaim Siegel from Elazar Advisors, adding the stock was still benefiting from last week's prediction by Musk that it would finally hit its production target for its Model 3 sedan.

The disclosure about the "SpaceX Package" for the next-gen Tesla Roadster was made by Musk earlier this week.

On Saturday, Musk said the package will include around 10 small rocket thrusters that will improve the vehicle's acceleration, maximum speed, braking, and handling.

"Inevitably, somebody's not going to service their auto properly and they're going to drop a hubcap and it's going to guillotine somebody", Musk recently said at an event discussing his Boring Company's plans to build car-carrying tunnels under Los Angeles and other cities.

He ended by saying "New Tesla Roadster will exceed all gas sports cars in every way". "Maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly ..." And we think that is enough time for the tech-maverick Elon Musk to figure out how those 10 rockets will blend into the vehicle.
