'Sons of Anarchy' Actor Alan O'Neill Dies at 47

The Irish-born actor was due to appear in the upcoming film Charlie Lives as Pepper, according to IMDB.

Irish actor Alan O'Neill, known for his role as Hugh on Sons of Anarchy, has died at age 47.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that his body was found by his girlfriend.

O'Neill reportedly had a history of heart problems and battled drug and alcohol addiction, but a cause of death has yet to be determined.

He made his debut in season six, playing a former member of the True IRA. Pending an autopsy, the actor's death is being investigated as a natural or accidental death. "Despite the miles between L.A. and Dublin, Alan was only ever a phone call away". Prior to his work on the FX series, O'Neill starred on Fair City from 2006 to 2012. "We worked together on The Sons of Anarchy...my condolences to his family". Thank you for your kindness.

O'Neill's acting career dates back to the 1990s. A great man, sadly missed.

Hugh was a recurring character right up until the series' final episode, Papa's Goods, in the seventh and final season.
