Twenty years after the original, the Resident Evil 2 remake was finally shown off for the first time at Sony's E3 conference last night. Well, allow us to allay those fears as Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil 2 will be launching on Xbox One on January 25th, 2019.

Not that there will be much of a wait though, as it's now got a confirmed release date of January 25. Horror fans need no fret, however, the Resident Evil 2 Remake has you covered. For those of you who do not understand, there are no bathrooms in most of the Resident Evil games till Resident Evil 4. We've been very eager to unveil the new game to the world this week. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies.

If you happen to be in attendance at E3 this year, you can play a short demo of Resident Evil 2 at Capcom's booth in the South Hall. Players can expect fresh take on the stories of Claire and Leon, as they move around the city in a desperate effort to stay alive.

With a new over-the-shoulder, third-person camera mode, the game looks to depart from the classic-yet-clunky controls of the original RE games and towards the more modern entries in the franchise. WithCapcom's proprietary RE Engine powering a new photorealistic style, the characters themselves appear sharper than ever and the grotesque hordes of zombies are brought to life with a horrifyingly realistic wet gore effect.

A little more comprehensive than the official remastered Resident Evil HD (2015), the Resident Evil 2 Remake looks to have been given the same over-the-shoulder camera placement introduced in Resident Evil 4. That's a pretty quick turnaround for a game that just got its first trailer.
