The royal family are the subject of criticism this week after pictures were published of Prince George brandishing a toy gun at a polo match.

The family were on hand to show their support for Prince William in the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy, with baby Louis the only one missing.

Charlotte was certainly in higher spirits than on Saturday, when she slipped and hit her head on railings while watching Trooping the Colour.

But while many criticized the fact that the little prince was allowed to play with a plastic gun, the debate has been ongoing as others have risen to the defense of children playing with such toys. The brother and sister duo were pictured playing with toys, including a slinky and walking a beam of wood practicing their balancing skills.

At one point, mischievous Charlotte made Kate and Autumn Phillips collapse into fits of giggles as she performed an impressive headstand, while a shy George watched on. At the grandiose event, the royal tots joined the rest of their family on the Buckingham Palace balcony, but they caused a bit of a scene when Savannah covered George's mouth to stop him from singing. My American side here, biased maybe b/c of everyday #gunviolence in U.S., but my British side agrees.

In perhaps the most candid snaps of the three royals ever seen, royal fans witnessed an adorable glimpse into normal family life for the Cambridges - showing they really are just like everyone else. The next day, George, 4, and Savannah, 7, showed again that they are definitely a playful pair of cousins, as they enjoyed a day out at the Beaufort Polo Club in Gloucestershire.
