As a thanks for his heroism, Sgt. Mannino received a life saving service award from the department.

"I have twin boys, and there's not a day that goes by where something bad happens, you always think of your own kids", Mannino said. Mannino parked his cruiser to block traffic, then ran to the little boy who was eventually reunited with his mother. The 2-year-old boy is running south on Route 59 along the right lane, steps away from passing motorists in the center lane. The 1-year-old was running alongside traffic, including large trucks whizzing by at risky speeds. The child was out for only a matter of minutes before Mannino spotted him. Mannino then alerts dispatch that he has him and would begin searching for his parents.
