"The contents of that note, as well as the physical state of the apartment and the comments of the witness, lend to the credibility that it is an apparent suicide", says NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea.

Reta Saffo, Kate's sister, has now revealed that she believes she had an nearly life long battle with bipolar.

"She was exceedingly kind, beautifully sensitive, insanely talented, amusing as heck and one of the most generous people I have ever known".

"I am also a very, a nervous person, I worry a lot", she said.

Late Tuesday, West shared a screenshot of an article about Spade's passing, adding a message of "love" for Spade and her family. "We are deeply heartbroken and miss her already".

"We are all devastated by today's tragedy", the Spade family said in a statement to the Associated Press.
