"When the film is released around the world, the Karnataka ban would highlight the issue (Cauvery water dispute)".

There was also a post from Times Now, this morning, stating the same.

The 67-year-old actor expressed hope that Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will take all necessary steps to ensure the film's release tomorrow as per the Karnataka High Court order. "However, the concerned distributors should provide complete details about theatres and multiplexes where the film would be released", said City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar. Dhanush, who is the son-in-law of Rajinikanth, and his wife Aishwarya Dhanush, elder daughter of Rajinikanth, have jointly moved an application before the Karnataka high court seeking police protection to theatres that would eventually screen the movie, an industry source told TOI, on condition of anonymity.

In response, the Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy invited Rajinikanth to see the situation for himself, after which he would change his stand. This is not good for Karnataka.

The movie was supposed to be released by Goldie Films, which backed off after the protests by pro-Kannada groups heated up.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce submitted to the court that they have nothing to do with any ban on the film. The new distributor is the veteran #KanakapuraSrinivas producer and distributor. According to a report in IBTimes, Kaala has earned Rs 60 crore in Tamil Nadu, Rs 33 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Nizam regions, Rs. 10 crore in Kerela and Rs. 7 crore in rest of India.

Kaala will premier tonight (6 June) in key overseas markets like United States of America and Dubai and it will open in India with usual early morning shows slotted at 4 am in Chennai suburban theatres.

Now for the movie to be declared a hit, it needs another Rs. 280 crore, which looks quite possible for the movie, considering how the megastar's last film "Kabali" collected Rs. 650 crore worldwide, with Rs. 259 overseas business. "Let us wait as we will know the results in a few hours".
