Here's all you need to know about what International Yoga Day is, when it is, what the theme for 2018 will be, how to watch its events, how to celebrate it and some notable events taking place in India and throughout the world.

In his address, the Prime Minister said from Dehradun to Dublin, from Shanghai to Chicago, from Jakarta to Johannesburg, yoga was everywhere.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose proposal for the global event won United Nations approval in 2014, will lead the way, performing his asanas with an expected 60,000 others in the northern town of Dehradun. "More and more people should adopt yoga in their daily lives". As awareness about the need for a healthy lifestyle increases, youngsters as well as senior citizens are keen on following yoga.

"Yoga is handsome because it is ancient yet modern, it is constant yet evolving", he said.

He said yoga offers a solution to ailments and practising it helps combat stress and find peace.
