Gareth Southgate will be hoping that he doesn't have to come up against Sergio Ramos at any point after the England manager dislocated his shoulder going for a run round England's training camp.

Former worldwide Southgate was not injured, however, celebrating captain Harry Kane's 91st-minute victor.

Alli sat out England training on Thursday as the Three Lions prepare for the Panama game which kicks off at 1pm (BST) on Sunday. That extra beef in midfield is more likely to be showcased in the final group game with Belgium, where either Delph or Dier would be candidates for a starting role. England can't expect to win this World Cup unless at least one of them is able to relieve the pressure on Kane by finding their goal scoring touch in Russian Federation.

"If I'm Raheem Sterling, because of the bond the young guys all have in the squad, I accept the decision [not to start against Panama], but if Rashford doesn't perform against Panama, I'd knock on Southgate's door and say is it my turn again against Belgium".

On two occasions now, it would appear that Southgate's planned starting XIs for World Cup group games have been leaked.

The Hydrometcenter of Russian Federation has forecast temperatures of up to 28C (82F) on Saturday, rising to a possible maximum of 32C (89F) on Sunday when England play Panama.

Both Sterling and Alli are consistent goal scorers for their club teams, but neither can yet say they have made the step up at global level.

More of the same will be needed in Nizhny Novgorod.

Southgate's side must be wary of conceding throw-ins in unsafe positions as this will be bring the danger of Adolfo Machado into play.

However, it looks likely that Gareth Southgate will need to find a replacement.

Iceland's Aron Gunnarsson caused havoc for England in Nice using this ploy, leading to Ragnar Sigurdsson's goal.

For the first time in a while, the youngsters will feel expectation weighing down on them.

Just watch the long throws.

"At the moment, England are effectively playing with three number 10s, even though none of them are what you would describe as the classic versions of this position".

Defender John Stones has no worries: "It was the flies more than anything else in Volgograd".

"The other night was a good test for us heat-wise".

"The doctor has made it clear that punching the air is not an option", said Southgate, who was grateful for receiving attention quickly after his accident.

The damage? A dislocated shoulder.
