Ubisoft showed off more of Beyond Good & Evil 2 during its Electronic Entertainment Expo event today in Los Angeles. Out of the smoke comes Jade, the original protagonist from the past games, looking awesome but also a little evil too which is pretty cray cray. Players will control their own custom space pirate, tasked with navigating from planet to planet doing general piratey things.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 was described in the conference as a "space opera", and that ideology seems to shine through in the latest trailer. Apparently Jade is the villain of the game even though it's a prequel. The crew then faced off against a woman that Pey'j identified as Jade, the main character from the original Beyond Good & Evil.

"We want our community to participate in a way that's never been done before through the Space Monkey program, " said Guillaume Brunier, a senior producer at Ubisoft. System 3 has become the center of interstellar trade and colonization in the Milky Way of the 24th century, thanks to the creation of Hybrid slaves. We did, however, get a glimpse of some pre-alpha footage of Beyond Good and Evil 2 and it does look tremendously promising. While private enterprises fight over resources and power, the first colonists weave together the rich and diverse spiritual and cultural heritages of Old Earth to give meaning to their existence.
