Bentley Bentayga Pikes Peak launched to celebrate record run

A sports exhaust - though not the Akrapovic fitted to the record auto - and Bentley's Touring Specification complete the Pikes Peak overhaul, this Bentayga not quite going the whole hog by removing the rear seats and adding a cage as in Rhys Millen's steed. But Bentley has laid its own claim to the prize, and cemented its standing this weekend at Pikes Peak.

Limited to just ten units, the Mulliner-built Pikes Peak Bentayga can be had in either deep Beluga black or Radium (the color of the record-setting machine), with 22-inch wheels in a two-tone finish of Beluga with Radium accents. There are a few Pikes Peak logos spread about the interior, as well, in addition to numbered doorsill plates.

The Bentayga raced up the hill with a time of 10:49.9 at the hands of renowned hillclimb competitor Rhys Millen. The Pikes Peak ditches the regular Bentayga's brightwork in favour of black trim. All exterior chrome has been swapped for gloss black as part of the exterior black pack, and there's a "subtle" Pikes Peak graphic on the front fenders.

Inside the Pikes Peak Bentayga, the seats are wrapped in Beluga leather with key lime accents.

Tyres were selected from Pirelli's DOT-marked range, and a production-specification Akrapovic sports exhaust was fitted. There's no word on how much it added back in with the roll cage and fire-suppression system, but we'd wager the Pikes Peak record breaker was usefully lighter than stock. There's also an Alcantara steering wheel. Bentley plans to issue a limited edition model celebrating the achievement. It uses the standard 6.0-liter twin turbo W12 which still produces 600 PS and 900 Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

Mechanical specifications mirror those of the record-breaker, which means the vehicle has an active 48V anti-roll system, air suspension and the Bentayga Sports Exhaust as standard.

The Pikes Peak Bentayga will be available to order from August for customers in the USA and Europe.
