They also call for a distinct and separate set of proposals for looked after children accessing mental health services. "We found in the school districts where it's taught and embraced by the administration, not only do the students recognize when fellow students are having a problem but they will relay and report to teachers and administration", said Staar, "and teen suicide has plummeted".

"Trust leaders tell us demand for mental health care is growing rapidly, particularly for CAMHS", Cordery added.

"It warms my heart to be able to give back and help other people have an easier time living with mental health challenges".

They said: "This will be supported by a new workforce - larger than the entire current workforce - and backed by £300m of additional funding that will also provide significant additional resources for all schools". The event was hosted by Pathways, WRAP, Tennessee Voices for Children, Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, West Tennessee Healthcare and the State Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
