Producer Walt Disney Co shut down an entire block and filled two historic theaters to debut the film for industry guests, fans and VIPs including "Star Wars" creator George Lucas and Amazon.com Inc Chief Executive Jeff Bezos.

Hollywood Boulevard turned into a landing strip for Thursday's world premiere of the latest film in the Star Wars franchise, "Solo: A Star Wars Story". Woody Harrelson is playing Han's mentor, a man by the name of Beckett, while Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke, Westworld's Thandie Newton, Avengers' Paul Bettany, and Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star. Fans camped out for days before the premiere. How does Solo: A Star Wars Story fare under such scrutiny? Whether or not Han Solo's adventure deserves this, will it receive the same treatment?

The movie had been plagued by production difficulties, with Ron Howard replacing Phil Lord and Christopher Miller during the filming process.

The movie, which comes just five months after "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", has endured a journey to screen that has been bumpier than the Falcon completing the Kessel Run. The company is now "developing not just one, but a few Star Wars series specifically for the Disney direct-to-consumer app", according to Disney CEO Bob Iger. "But I'm also really glad that we worked very hard to make this release date", said Howard. One of the things I have always loved about the Star Wars movies was that they didn't try and fill in all of the details. This the first time we actually see people pressing buttons on the table, however, it's pretty cool that they kept the classic Claymation feel from the original Star Wars trilogy-just like they did with The Force Awakens.
