Travelers killing time at Tampa International Airport's Gasparilla Bar got an unexpected show Friday when a dog gave birth to eight puppies near Gate F81.

Photos and a video of the incident were uploaded on the fire department's Twitter page under the hashtag "AirportPuppies".

Luckily the father, Nugget, was there for the commotion, too.

Her name is Ellie, and she caused quite a stir on the concourse today as she unexpectedly went into labor. The women said that they knew "Ellie" the yellow Lab was pregnant, but they were not aware of how close she apparently was to giving birth.

The puppies, their parents, and humans missed the flight.

City of Tampa Fire Rescue was on the scene to provide support to the new mother and documented the delivery.

It was hard to control the father of the puppies during the delivery.

Staff at an airport in Florida were in for a "ruff" day when a dog started to deliver her litter of puppies outside their terminal. Seven of them are boys and one is a girl. They now plan to drive from Tampa to Philadelphia - roughly 1,000 miles - with their 10 dogs, the Miami Herald reported.
