If this is Antonio Conte's final Premier League game as Chelsea manager there will be a collective shrugging of shoulders in west London, but the prospect of Rafa Benitez leaving Newcastle United sends a shudder of fear across Tyneside.

This could also have been a final game in charge for Newcastle manager, Rafa Benitez, with the Spaniard's future in doubt pending key talks with the club's owner, Mike Ashley, in the next week.

"Newcastle showed great desire, a great will to fight, a great will to take three points and to finish this season in the best possible way".

"But we have six days to change our approach, our desire, our will to fight".

"I would like to thank Rafa Benitez for his magnificent achievement this season", Ashley wrote in a statement released after the game. For this, I'm the first person to answer, because I am the coach of this team. "But I'm the first person to answer for this".

Antonio Conte, in what may have been his last game as Chelsea boss in the Premier League, chose to make a number of changes for the clash with the Magpies, with the Italian deciding to make a total of eight from their disappointing draw with Huddersfield Town during the week.

It was a tribute to all Benitez has done this season, as well as a plea for him to stay and build on a hugely encouraging first season back in the top flight.

Ross Barkley had the opportunity to reduce the deficit which was blocked before the Spaniard was on hand to seal the win for Newcastle and ensure Chelsea would not be competing in the Champions League next season.
