The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will get an update to Android 8.0 Oreo in mid-May, and it's not just a rumor this time - it's officially confirmed. It noted the rollout time for Oreo updates scheduled for a number of devices, including the Galaxy S7 line.

The model numbers getting the update include SM-G930F and SM-G935F, and Oreo should change their build numbers to G930FXXU2ERD5 and G935FXXU2ERD5, respectively. The OTA update for them is little bit bulky than for the unlocked variants with around 1.4 GB in size.

The software update is also only available over-the-air as of now, but should soon be available for download via Samsung SmartSwitch as well. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices purchased from Vodafone UK should also be receiving the update. If you are using the Galaxy Tab S2, the update coming your way has software version T819YDXU2BRC2 and for those on the Galaxy Tab S3, the update has software version T825JXU1ARC1. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more. If you are living outside the United Kingdom, do not worry, the update should arrive to other regions in the coming weeks.
