USA broadcast network Fox has cancelled a raft of comedies including long-running police series Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Mainly, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is just a great show!

Members of the cast as well as celebs who love the show tweeted their sadness about the show's cancellation. "THIS IS ONE OF THE THINGS #RenewB99". Along with this show FOX also canceled The Last Man on Earth and The Mick.

I stuck with the series all the way through, and I don't regret one bit of it. Season 4 ended on a pretty huge cliffhanger as the cast found themselves surrounded by a horde of survivors, and Forte said he meant to wrap things up with a definitive ending should the show continue through Season 5.

The series, which ends its fifth season May 20 with the wedding of Jake (Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero), was on the fence as the network weighed pilots, returning series and its new commitment to Thursday Night Football.

Co-creator Dan Goor acknowledged the loss on Twitter, thanking people for an "incredible outpouring of support".

The shows ran five, four and two seasons respectively, but will not return for the 2018-19 television season.

Despite the buzz and critical praise, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" fame is not reflected quite well in the Nielsens. Though the show has a loyal following, the series has never had stellar ratings. However, if you are a fan of comedy, look away because it seems the studio may be losing some of its sense of humour and focusing on more dramatic material instead.

Obviously, because Brooklyn Nine-Nine is available to stream on Hulu, it would make more sense for Hulu to revive the series for another season or multiple seasons.

The same unfortunately isn't true of Last Man on Earth or The Mick, which just wrapped up their fourth and second seasons, respectively.

Other sitcoms, such as The Mindy Project, later lasted two more seasons on Hulu.
