'No, this is what people need to see to go along with this music, ' (Kanye responded).

Though West purportedly paid $85,000 to license the photo, it's unclear whether he paid the National Enquirer or Houston's sister-in-law Tina Brown, sister to Houston's ex-husband, Bobby Brown.

While Pusha T originally meant to use multiple photos for the cover, West apparently insisted that they use a photo of the late singer Whitney Houston's bathroom in disarray.

Later on Thursday Kanye took to Twitter to unveil Pusha's album, and proudly showed off the artwork.

During a radio interview with The Angie Martinez Show on Wednesday, Pusha T revealed that the rights to the image didn't come cheap after West opted to make some last-minute changes to the album cover.

The lyrics, from Daytona closer "Infrared", are a reference to Drake employing rapper Quentin Miller as a ghostwriter on some tracks circa 2015, including his contribution to Meek Mill's "R.I.C.O".

"He changed my artwork last night at 1 a.m".

For what it's worth, Pusha T does not endorse Kanye's politics.

Just last month, singer Lorde got backlash after she shared a photo of a bathtub with the caption "And iiii will always love you".

"I just want him to tell me why he did it", says Elliott. These kind of edits weren't honoured on Pusha's 12-track solo debut "My Name Is My Name", which Kanye had wanted to trim down further, but "DAYTONA" suggests that maybe they should have been. In addition to claiming ownership of their career, Drake also took several shots at Pusha's fiancee and "drug raps".

Representatives for Houston's estate did not immediately return a request for comment.
